A Jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts or Guides usually spaced out over a few days including diverse activities focussed towards the outdoors and skills development. This event is typically much larger than a usual camp and will include activities that Scouts would not usually participate in.

Yes, your group will need a nights away permit for your group to attend. This means at least one volunteer from each group should have a nights away permit?
Yes, to ensure the safety of our young people and adults, all over 18s will need to have a valid, in date DBS check. This includes network! Please get in touch to get your DBS completed.... it's free! - sussxjam@eastsussexscouts.org.uk
Each group will need to do their own catering. Catering is provided for event staff only!
No, to make it easier for everyone, we are only allowing cooking on gas. You will need to bring your own gas bottles and cooking equipment.
Yes, groups will need to bring their own camping equipment and cooking facilities. Water and electricity will be provided in certain areas.
Groups will be camping together but this won't mean you will be camping in your district. The idea is to mix with people you may not know!
Yes, there will be a trading post to purchase merch, food, sweets and other goodies!
The closest train station is Haywards Heath and there is a regular bus to Ardingly - 272 Bus Timetable
If you are volunteering as part of your King's Scout or Gold DofE then there will be a shuttle bus running at certain times. More information to come.
Yes, there is a day pass which will be primarily for Squirrels but other ages can attend for the day - first come first served.
There will be dedicated mobile phone charging stations but we do recommend bringing a power bank... or two! If you need electricity for a medical reason, please get in touch to ensure that we can place you near an electric hook up/indoor accommodation - gabe.jones@eastsussexscouts.org.uk
You may only camp in tents unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from doing so. Please get in touch and we can look at placing you in the indoor accommodation but you will still need to bring a sleeping bag. Requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
Yes, Network are more than welcome to book and attend even if they are not coming as part of a group. They will be required to assist in running the camp and must also have a valid DBS. This can be completed by the event organisers so please get in touch.
The site will be fenced off and secure from the public.
Each group will be responsible for their own 1st aid and must report any and all incidents to the event 1st aid team who will be there to support and deal with larger incidents.
No, vehicles must remain in the car park during the event and while young people are on site. This is to ensure safety of all attending.
There will be kit transport from the car park to the site but we recommend bringing a trolley as this transport will be limited.
All adult volunteers will be required to bring one form of photo ID to get onto the site.
All activities will have been risk assessed and these RAs are accessible for everyone on the volunteer information page.
Providing there are enough to make up ratios, you will not be required to be with your young people at all times.
Alcohol is not permitted on the site at all. This includes: in your tent, in your car and hidden anywhere else on your person. While responsible for young people, you are not permitted to leave the site to consume alcohol. If you are found in the possession of alcohol, you and your group may be asked to leave the site.
There will be a designated smoking and vaping area for those who wish to do so.
Of course! SussXJam is open to everyone no matter who you are. If there are particular accessibility needs that you require then please let us know so that we can support you in the best way possible.
We trust that adults and groups are capable of understanding the abilities of their young people and volunteers.
There may be restrictions on certain activities but we are working to ensure that every activity is inclusive.
There is no chemical waste disposal available to us on site but there are toilets and showers provided.
